The Studio of Grace Piano/Vocal recital was held at Peace Harbor on Sunday, April 26, 2009, at 1:30 p.m. Students performed their pieces to an audience of parents, siblings, relatives and friends, with the residents of Peace Harbor and Peace Villa as guests.
Pieces performed were a variety of classical, musical theater, sing a long hymns and performance hymns, folk songs, lesson performance pieces, dances and a vocal selection by Sydney Valenta.
Awards from the year’s optional events were presented. Those receiving certificate awards were: Makayla Dreier, Taylor Gort, Emma Dettmann, Casey Skaaland, Sydney Valenta and Cambria Jacobs. Cambria also received her first Gold Cup Award for three Superior Performances at the NFMC Music Festival held the past three years in February.
Students performing this year were: Taylor Gort, daughter of Rick and Paula Gort of Cologne; Casey Skaaland, daughter of Sean and Jill Skaaland of Cologne; Emma Dettmann, daughter of David and Ann Dettmann of NYA; Alyssa Eiden, daughter of Joel and Vicky Eiden of NYA; Lauren Pelletier, daughter of Scott and Angela Pelletier of NYA; Mariah Moser, daughter of Brian and Natalia Moser of NYA; Taylor Zerull, NYA, daughter of Mike Zerull and Alma Cook; Emily Lano, daughter of Paul and Terri Lano of NYA; Sydney Valenta, daughter of Tom and Erin of Waconia; Rebecca Manteuffel and Lauren Manteuffel, daughters of Todd and Lois Manteuffel of NYA; Makayla Dreier, daughter of Larry and Debbie Dreier of NYA; Madison Beck, NYA, daughter of Alma Cook and Matthew Beck; and Cambria Jacobs, daughter of Paul and Kara Jacobs of Waconia.
Following the recital, refreshments were served and enjoyed by all. Background/socializing piano music was played by students who had performed in the MFMC and AAA events of 2009. A violin piece, Song of the Wind, was played at this time by Taylor Zerull.
NFMC (National Federation of Music Clubs) and the MFMC (Minnesota Federation of Music Clubs) are the organizations which sponsor Music Festivals annually to encourage and support (some of them with monetary awards) young people in their music studies and careers.
AAA is the annual Central Elementary School event to showcase talents in the elementary grades in NYA. Students also use the3ir talents accompanying their school choirs at church services, as Lauren Manteuffel has done.
