Listings for the community calendar are free, but not guaranteed. We encourage you send us your listings of upcoming events and we will do our best to include them.

PUMPKIN PARTY - Westonka School District’s ECFE program will sponsor a Pumpkin Party for ages birth to 5 years and their parents at the Early Childhood Education Center, 5241 Shoreline Drive in Mound from 6:15-7:30 p.m. This “un-scary” evening of activities will include face painting, crafts, stories, music and a special snack. PET ADOPTION - Volunteers from the Carver Scott Humane Society will hold a pet adoption from noon to 3 p.m., at PETCO, in Eden Prairie, located off of Singletree Lane, between Prairie Center Drive and Hwy. 212. All cats and dogs have been micro-ID-implanted, vet-checked, wormed, had shots updated, checked for friendly temperaments, and age-appropriately spayed/neutered. PANCAKE BREAKFAST - The St. Bonoface Council of Catholic Women and the Fr. Wohlfort Council 12029 St. Bonfcae Knights of Columbus will hold a pancake breakfast from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., followed by a bake sale and quilt raffle.

CHRISTIAN MUSIC - The Cross Roads contemporary Christian band will be performing at Heavenly Blend Coffeehouse, Fairview Church, 1175 Co Rd 19, Minnetrista (just south of Red Oak Golf Course) from 7-9 p.m. Supper, beverages and dessert will be included for a free will offering. LANDSCAPING CLASS - The Westonka Horticultiural Society will host a program on winter landscaping from 9:30-1 a.m. at The Gillespie Center, 2590 Commerce Blvd., Mound. VET MEMORIAL DEDICATION - The city of Mound, with support from American Legion Post 398 and VFW post 5113, will stage dedication ceremonies for the new Veterans’ Memorial Plaza adjacent to the Mound parking ramp on Shoreline Drive. The program begins at 1 p.m. and will include a 21-gun salute and military fly-over. The American Legion will host a social hour and dinner ($10) following the ceremony at their hall, 2333 Wilshire Blvd., Mound.

FAMILY FUN WALK & RUN - The Orono Alliance for Edication and Gear West will co-sponsor Turkey Trot, a 1- 2-mile, rain or shine event at Orono Intermediate School beginning at 11 a.m. Registration opens at 10:15 a.m. in the school parking lot. A $10 ticket, available at the door, includes the fashion show. PARENTING PROGRAM - Westonka’s Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE) program will host a parent discussion from 6:30-8:30 p.m. based on the book “1-2-3- Magic” to examine ways to manage difficult behavior in young children. DISTRICT 277 ASD Parent Support - From 6:15-7:30 p.m. at Shirley Hills Primary School Media Center, 2450 Wilshire Blvd. Mound. Topic to be addressed: "Managing Expectations" - How to create an understanding of ASD for family, friends, peers, and community. A presentation by district autism specialists Judy Hart and Kandi Engelmann will focus on factors which may affect the ability of others to understand this puzzling disorder. LUTEFISK DINNER - Trinity Lutheran Church, 2060 6th Ave. N., Long Lake, will host its 13th annual lutefisk and meatball dinner after a two year hiatus for the construction of the new Great Hall. MWHS MUSICAL - Mound Westonka High School’s drama department will stagel “Into the Woods”, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and a matinee Sunday, Nov. 16 at 2 p.m. in the high school Little Theater. Tickets are $8 for adults and $6 for students. Advance tickets go on sale Nov. 5 and can be ordered in person at the high school Activities Office. Payment is due at the time of the order and pre-ordered tickets will be available to pick up at the door. Ticket orders will not be taken over the phone.
