Election Day is quickly approaching and filing deadlines for those looking to throw their hats into city and school races are just around the corner.
The Watertown-Mayer School Board has five seats open - four four-year terms (currently held by Brent Theisen, Kim Capaul and Larry Oberender and previously held by Kyle McDonough)
and one two-year term currently filled by Matt Williams. Filings open Aug. 26 and will stay open until 5 p.m. on Sept. 9. Filing fee is $2. Those interested in filing should contact the district office at (952) 955-0480.
The city of Watertown will hold elections for mayor and two council member positions.
KJ McDonald currently holds the mayor seat and the position is a two-year term. Council seats are four-year terms and are currently held by Rick Mann and Dan Geiger.
Filing for positions in Watertown will run from Aug. 26 until 5 p.m. on Sept. 9. Filing fee is $2. Filing can be done at Watertown City Hall, 309 Lewis Avenue South. Office hours are 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Withdrawals can be made through 5 p.m. on Sept. 11. Offices will be closed Sept. 1 for Labor Day.

Those in the city of Mayer will elect a mayor and two council members.
The mayor term is for two years and is currently held by Chris Capaul. The two council member seats are four-year terms and are currently held by Ron Haag and Jim Stanley.
Filing in Mayer begins on Aug. 25 and will be open until 5 p.m. on Sept. 9. Filing fee is $2.
Filing can be done at the Mayer City Offices located in the Mayer Community Center, 413 Bluejay Ave. Offices are open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Withdrawals can be made through 5 p.m. on Sept. 11. Offices in Mayer will also be closed on Sept. 1 for Labor Day.
