A 16-year-old male died as the result of a crash that occurred shortly before 2 p.m. on County Road 123 near Watertown. Officials have not released the identity of the teen, who was the driver and lone occupant of the vehicle.
According to the Carver County Sheriff's Office, the teen was traveling northbound on CR 123 when his pickup left the roadway, struck a power pole and rolled. After Watertown Fire Rescue personnel extricated the driver from the pickup, he was airlifted by Lifelink Helicopter from the scene to Hennepin County Medical Center. At about 6:50 p.m., the Sheriff's Office was notified that the driver had died at the hospital.
Emergency services that responded to the crash included the Carver County Sheriff's Office, Watertown Fire Rescue, Mayer Fire Rescue, Ridgeview Medical Center Ambulance and Lifelink III Helicopter.
The Sheriff's Office is investigating the crash.
